Abstract

This article analyses the formal model of the presentation of accounts which is applied in hospital: those of contractual responsability. In describing the story of the implementation of poles' contracts in a French public hospital, the authors take a critical stance, from a technical and ideological point of view. They illustrate the difficulties linked with the implementation of such a model, difficulties already identified in the management control literature. Then the authors show how, in practice, this system is loosely implemented, which is in the end particularly relevant for the organization, under certain conditions.
